HAYMAN ISLAND QUEENSLAND, TO REOPEN AUGUST 2011

North Queensland’s stunning holiday destination, Hayman Island, is set to re-open on 1 August 2011 in time for spring and summer holidays. The Island has been closed since 6 March 2011 in order to repair damage that was caused by Tropical Cyclones Anthony and Yasi, which passed over the island on 30 January and 2 February 2011. The works encompass key guest and accommodation areas, activity facilities, essential infrastructure, landscaping, vegetation and grounds works throughout the island. Hayman has engaged award-winning landscape designer, horticulturalist, and personality, Jamie Durie, to rejuvenate and refresh the beautiful garden surrounds of the acclaimed resort. La Fontaine restaurant will be presented in a new contemporary setting, Azure will retain its stunning beachfront location and Oriental restaurant will be enhanced including a new menu and garden surrounds. The repair & restoration works is one of the many recovery efforts in North Queensland in what is still proving a tough time for the state and many Queensland operators.
