Bora Bora - First Full Day At Resort

Woke up to a sunny morning (again early from the jet lag and time difference). Today's agenda was to walk around, go into town, get a massage and relax. During the low season, the tenders to town don't run quite as often, so be sure to consult the tender/shuttle service schedule. It's available in the 3-ring portfolio in the hut, or at the reservations desk. Instead of packing and checking a separate bag for liquids, I thought I'd just buy sun tan lotion here in Bora Bora. Big mistake. Yesterday I visited the resort sundries shop to buy a very small bottle of lotion, which was $30 USD. A trip to town was needed. There is one store in town, the Chinlee store. Most of the stores in Polynesia are owned by Chinese immigrants - they seem to have the monopoly. At the store you'll find freshly baked baguettes, snacks and other items that are at least 50 percent less expensive than at the resort. This is where I bought my next suntan lotion bottle and some other goodies.

The sunny morning quickly turned cloudy, obscuring the peaks of Bora Bora.

The resort pool is just beautiful. The beach is only a few meters away where you can take out a Hobie Cat for sailing, kayaks, bikes or even rent a jetski. The pool has a swim-up bar.

End of Second Day at the St. Regis in Bora Bora

It was a full and enjoyable day, with intermittent rain showers (warm rain), some wind and some sunshine. Going into town to look around a bit is a good for at least an afternoons excursion if you haven't been to Bora Bora before. The front desk or concierge at the St. Regis can arrange a helicopter tour (I highly recommend), jeep safari tour, or even a dinner at the famed Bloody Mary's. I highly recommend a lunch or dinner there. It is one of my most favorite restaurants in the entire world. With a sandy floor and thatched hut, you pick out your dinner before it is grilled to perfection.
