Sunday was our last full day in Switzerland, so we were going to make the most of it, even though it was cloudy, foggy and some hints of drizzle.

Cable Car to Mannlichen
Wengen Cable Car

After breakfast, we checked out and stored our luggage at the hotel. It was still foggy and drizzling outside, but we decided to forge ahead anyhow. We bought tickets for the cable car to Mannlichen and went in the almost empty car to the top.

This entire region is known for its ski slopes - and in the off season for the hiking trails. To the east is the Eiger, Monch and Jungfraujoch. Just beyond the hill down in the valley on the other side is Grindelwald.

As the clouds part, Lauterbrunnen can be seen below.
Wengen and beyond is Lauterbrunnen.
Maps and ski routes of the area.
You have a huge array of hiking trails.

For the longest gondola ride in Switzerland - take the cable car from Mannlichen down to Grindelwald. It takes more than 30 minutes.

Finally, we arrive at Grindelwald Grund.

After the long and scenic ride on the cable car to Grund, we purchased private rail tickets to Kleine Shceidegg.

The Jungfraubahn which travels up through the Eiger to Jungfraujock.

The train departs to the peak in rain.

At Bern we switched trains to Zurich Flughafen. Trains stop only for a few minutes - be ready for it.
At the airport. We went to the arrival floor and found ground transportation to the Hilton. It was expensive, but convenient after a long day of travel.

Pay TV and internet access. They also have a business room with a terminal for internet.

After a dinner at the hotel restaurant, we headed back to the room and packed for the next days flight back home. We decided to check all of our luggage, except our day packs.
