First Day at Sea

The first day at sea was relaxing, and most people claimed sought after deck space for tanning. Lunch was really overcrowded at the Great Outdoor Cafe, with people spilling into the hallways of the Promenade and even into the Club Internationale to find tables.

Formal Night

After a nice sunset, it was time to don the black tuxedo for formal night. My shipboard routine is usually to have a martini before dinner at the well-appointed Club Internationale near the stern. I love this room. It is a throwback to the 60's glory days when the Norway was the France, and a transatlantic thorobred. The bar has a complete menu of fabulous martini's, and the ambiance is second to none. Just above the small dance floor is a stage where the Standard Time Trio would play popular and jazz favorites. The trio is made up of a piano player, vocalist, and percussionist. The jazz singer was amazing. There just something about sitting in a tuxedo, sipping a martini, and listening to Frank Sinatra music !

Dance Lessons

Probably the of the highlights of the cruise were the daily dance lessons offered up by Ed and Jackie from Canada. They covered most styles of dance from waltz, cha-cha, meringue, salsa, tango and even rumba. They gave you the basics which you could utilize from the ships showtime band or the Standard Time Trio.
