Embarkation on the s/s Norway

After a tour around Bayside, I checked out and headed over to the cruise ship terminal. Latitudes members are able to check in before most of the general passengers, so I arrived at noon. After a small wait and a security check, I was aboard the Norway. This was my second cruise aboard the Norway (last cruise was a year ago in March) and for this cruise my cabin was located on the upper decks, Fjord F014. The cabin was spacious and very light, due to the large picture window, which unfortunately was blocked by a large lifeboat. The room had a small refrigerator, a mirrored vanity, plenty of closet space, and a good sized bathroom with tub. My travel agent (Kathi) had arranged a bottle of Chardonney and a cheese platter to be delivered to my room.

Cabin Selection

I usually book an outside cabin. Although inside cabins can be slightly less expensive, I like knowing when it's day light outside. Since this cabin was near the top of the ship, it experienced a bit more movement than cabins located center and lower in the ship.

Exploring the Ship

After unpacking and getting a quick bit to eat at the outdoor cafe (which was extremely crowded even with so few passengers aboard) it was off to take some photos of the ship and do some exploring. The first thing you should do aboard ship is to establish your credit account so that you can charge drinks and other things like tours. I always like to familiarize myself with where the major rooms are when I first get on the ship, so I know where I'm going. On a big ship, sometimes it can take you five or ten minutes to walk anywhere, and that's if you know where you're headed.
